The IRS only allows for changes to your elected coverage if you experience a Qualifying Life Event (QLE). The IRS requires your make changes to your coverage within 31 days of your QLE. Events include those listed below:
| Birth, legal adoption or placement for adoption | Marriage, divorce or legal separation |
| Dependent child reaches age 26 | Spouse gains or loses employment or eligibility with current employer |
| Death of spouse or child | Spouse or dependent becomes eligible for Medicare or state children's health insurance |
Marigold also allows you to make changes throughout the year to your Beneficiaries, HSA contributions, and FSA commuter contributions without a Qualifying Life Event.
Instructions on how to change benefits in Workday:
1. From your Workday homepage menu, click US Benefits.
2. Select Change Benefits.
3. Select the appropriate reason and then the effective date of the QLE. Then hit submit and you will be able to walk through all of your benefits and make changes as needed.
