However, if you are a higher rate taxpayer, you should be getting additional tax relief. You can claim it via your personal tax account with HMRC so they adapt your tax code. If you do not have an account, we can only suggest you to create one using the link https://www.gov.uk/personal-tax-account
- Tell HMRC know that your workplace pension scheme is a net pay scheme and you are only getting tax relief at the basic rate.
- Specify the amount of your contributions and the amount of tax relief you received.
*If you decide to claim tax relief for prior years, it might be a good idea to upload annual statements that show your contributions/tax relief from your pension provider. You just need to select a relevant tax period and repeat the process above using total contributions/tax relief for that particular year.
